Solution 1. Copy and Replace StickyNotes.snt File for Sticky Notes Backup and Recovery

  • To backup sticky notes in Windows 10/8.1/8/7:

Step 1. Type %AppData%\Microsoft\Sticky Notes in start menu search box (this is the sticky notes file location) and press Enter.

Step 2. Copy StickyNotes.snt to anywhere you think it's safe, like an external hard drive or external drive.

  • To restore sticky notes:

Step 1. Type %AppData%\Microsoft\Sticky Notes in start menu search box or run and press Enter.

Step 2. Copy the StickyNotes.snt file from your backup folder and paste it in the folder that opens.

Download EaseUS free backup software. It's a third-party Windows backup and recovery tool that allows you to back up specific files or folders in Windows 10/8.1/8/7/Vista/XP and enables you to extract a single file from the backup image.   • To backup sticky notes in Windows 10/8.1/8/7:

Preparations:

  • Connect your external hard drive to your computer.
  • Download EaseUS Todo Backup

Step 1. Launch EaseUS backup software and choose "File Backup" option.

Step 2. Select the files or folders you want to backup. Then click "Destination" to select the external hard drive as the backup storage location. You can also enter "Plan name" and "Description" for specifying your file backup.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  

Click "File Type" if you want to specify certain types of files to backup. Here, multiple types of files including Documents Files, E-mail, Financial Files, Music Files, Picture Files, and Video Files, etc can be selected.

You can also click Add to add a new file type, in Add New Type window, you input Type Name and corresponding file type.

Step 3. Click "Schedule" option to open the Backup Scheme window, here you can create a scheduled backup plan to backup files later, daily, weekly, monthly or upon an event.

The schedule is to create an automatic backup plan. It is not a prerequisite for backup. 

Step 4. Click "Proceed" to back up folders or files to the external hard drive.

  • To restore sticky notes:

Step 1. Launch EaseUS Todo Backup.

Step 2. Select the sticky notes backup image and click "Recover".
