Add desired file type to the file type tree of Data Recovery Wizard

Introduction

If you want to recover one or two types of data and want to use 'Search lost files by types' to help filter the found data, but you cannot find the desired file type in the file type tree. How to solve this problem?

Solution

Actually, our product offers an .xml file in the installation folder, which is used to manage the file type tree of our product. You can edit this file manually to add the desired file type which is not listed in the tree.

Here is the detailed method:

1. Please open the installation folder of our product, find the file named "FileFilter.xml". Please right click it, choose 'Open with', and then select 'Notepad' to open this file.

2. After you open it, please go to the end of the paper, insert the information below between "</FileType>" and "</FileCategory>". For example, if you want to add .bak in the file type tree, please input the information below:

<FileType Description="SQL Server backup (.bak)">
<Extention>.bak</Extention>
<Selected>0</Selected>
</FileType>

3. Please save the changes and you can run our product. Choose a proper recovery module, select "Search lost files by types", and unfold "Other" option. Then you will see there is a new option named "SQL Server backup (.bak)".
