How to resize partition on Windows Server 2008?

With the increasing demands of high-capacity storage devices in businesses, it is quite necessary to find ways to resize server partition. There are two opportunities for resizing 2008 server partition.

Windows Disk Management to Simply resize 2008 server partition

The first opportunity is to make use of Windows Server 2008 Disk Management, which, as a system utility, is part of the Microsoft Management Console for managing hard disks and the partitions both locally and remotely. The most frequently used way is "Click Start> Run and enter diskmgmt.msc in the Open: line and click OK." The Disk Management snap-in will open.

Basic Disk Management features under Windows server 2008 operating system including:

Create/Delete partition(s);
Format partition(s);
Set partition as active;
Assign or modify drive letters for partition(s);
View the property of all the disk(s) under the system;
Dynamic and basic disk(s) conversion;
Create a number of specialty volumes including simple, spanned, striped, mirrored, and RAID-5 volumes on dynamic disks;
Shrink/ Extend partition(s)

2. Select partition E:, right click it, select "Resize/Move partition" and drag the partition handle leftwards to resize E drive. Then there will be unallocated space behind E: drive.

3. Move E: drive rightwards to let the unallocated space be behind the system partition (C: drive) and click OK.

4. Select the system partition (C: drive), right click it and select "Resize/Move partition", drag the partition handle rightwards to extend system partition (C: drive).
