How do I recover files from the Raw Hard Drive?

Symptoms of RAW drive

A partition used in its native mode, and without having a file system existed. We usually call it as RAW. Since there is no file system on it, you may get the message the partition need to be formatted when you click on it. If a partition is corrupted in Windows, possible (but not all) symptoms are:

• Invalid media type reading drive.
  Abort, Retry, Fail?
• File system is displayed as "RAW".
• Windows may ask if you want to format the drive, such as warning "disk not formatted. do you want to format now?". Such as the follow picture.
• File names contain "weird" characters.
• "Sector not found" messages.

To recover the files from RAW Drive, please follow this procedure:

1. Download EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard, install it and launch it. Click the "Complete Recovery" button on the main window of the Data Recovery Wizard.

2. Select the file types you want to recover. Tick 'Search all lost files automatically' to find all lost file types. Tick 'Ignore bad sectors' to skip bad sectors when scanning.

3. You can see the list of volumes found on your computer.

4. Select the "RAW" drive or inaccessible logic drive.

5. Click "Next" to begin Scanning for Files.

6. Select the files or directory that you want to recover and press the "Next" button.

7. Select a directory and press the "Next" button to save the files.

Caution: Saving file(s) to the partition or drive from where you are recovering data, for it may result in overwriting of data, and would result in permanent data loss!

After recovering files from RAW drive, please format this RAW drive with Windows built-in format tool (Open My Computer, right click the RAW drive and select "Format" from the menu) or free partition manager and then this drive can be used again.
