Technical FAQ

Q: Can I recover data from a formatted disk?

A: Generally, our software can recover data from formatted disk if the data is not overwritten, just depends on how you format the disk.

A disk can be formatted in three different ways: Quick, Full and Low-Level (physical) format.

For hard disks, a quick or full format is generally carried out as a high-level format, where file system information such as directory entries or FAT is initialized while data areas are not overwritten, therefore Data Recovery Wizard can still recover the data after a quick or full format.

On the other hand, for disk media that cannot be partitioned with FDISK, such as a floppy disk, a full format is comparable to a low-level (physical) format process, rendering the original data on the floppy disk as unrecoverable.
