Windows 10 Won't Read SD Cards Unless I Reformat Them

My laptop, run by Windows 10, has a built-in SD card reader. It will not read my card unless I format it. But if I format it, I will lose all the photos stored. Therefore, I want to know what the reason is causing this problem and what I should do to solve this problem.

There are many reasons why Windows 10 won't read SD cards. According to my experience, you can first try restarting your computer. Most of the time, it can settle this question. If this cannot work, you can try to connect your SD card to another device or check your SD card in the disk management.
